Purpose
S17 focuses safety attention on the complete transport system: vehicles, rails, controls, power, transfer mechanisms, maintenance access, and supporting equipment. It complements, rather than replaces, functional AMHS interface standards.
Where it applies
S17 is relevant to AGV, RGV, OHS, OHT, and related unmanned transport systems when required by the project. A process tool receiving a carrier participates in boundary hazards and handoff safety but does not own the entire transport-system assessment.
Who implements it
AMHS suppliers, system integrators, facilities teams, safety professionals, and connected equipment suppliers coordinate hazards and controls at system and interface boundaries.
Relationships and dependencies
